Huw Roberts

FCMA Chartered Management Accountant

Huw qualified as an accountant in 1981. After a year with a local authority, he was the Financial Accountant at Sianel 4 Cymru from 1982-1987.

In May 1987 he started his own accountancy practice specialising in the tax affairs of individuals and small businesses, and he has gained a wealth of experience over the past 30+ years.

In 2015, following a change in the law allowing accountants to discharge the obligations of non-contentious probate, he became one of the first accountants in the country to practise probate.

Aled Wyn Thomas

ACA Chartered Accountant

Aled graduated with a 1st Class Honours BSc Mathematics degree from Aberystwyth University, after which he spent over six years with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Cardiff. Here, he specialised in the external audit of a range of companies, from £1bn turnover financial services companies to small, Welsh language charities as well as manufacturing companies across the UK and beyond.

Aled qualified as an ACA Chartered Accountant with the ICAEW in 2016 and is a member of the ICAEW Practice Assurance scheme. Since launching Huw Aled Accountants in 2020, Aled has become an expert in capital gains tax, completing tax calculations and returns for a wide variety of residential property disposals, from those by individual landlords, by expats based across the world and by various types of trusts, including life interest trusts and discretionary trusts.

On 1 February 2020, Huw and Aled joined together to launch a new accountancy business in Cardiff.

Combining their individual skills and expertise, Huw Aled Accountants are specialists in the field of taxation for individuals.
